Discovering new Nooks and Crannies

The husband and I went on a date this week. A real date, as childless people. No babysitter to get home to, no grandparents to relieve in the morning, just us and our "plan."

We would meet, we would park in the Mill district, we would view art, wander parks and then sit down to dine in a new to us restaurant after which we would drive home and walk, in the dark, around the lake. If you know us, you know that things don't always go as planned, and you expect some sort of catastrophe or silliness to ensue. . .not this time!

We met up after work, found parking by the Mill City Museum and wandered over to the block we were pretty sure the gallery was on. Amazingly, it was. Right where we thought it would be. Inside? The most awesome show I've seen in Minneapolis in years.

Rosalux has presented the work of two men in a format and layout that inspires wonder and awe. Seriously. The paintings of children had the creepy wrongness of Children of the Corn to them and the pen and ink drawings of strange furry creatures reminded me of nightmares post Wild Things.

We slowly wandered three floors of the gallery, taking in the scenes of demise and near death that Kuno portrays in his paintings, losing ourselves in the landscapes and portraits drawn by Howard.

After the gallery we headed over to Spoonriver and ate a blissfuly tasty meal of beet raviolis and the fish special. Mmmm flaky goodness.
