Rain--Finally

It is finally raining today. Thank goodness, because this drought has already taken a raspberry plant and my apple tree. It just isn't possible to water enough when we have such dry weather and dry winds to boot. So far, I've managed to keep the vegetables and herbs alive, and the rain garden is doing well--drought hardy plants one and all.

I wish I could be out biking, but there is so much to do! Preparing for Utah, moving, all that just sucking up this first month of the summer that I had hoped to use to explore the city more. July and August are all about me and the city. I am looking forward to getting to know the Mississippi better on the Challenge.

Two days paddling down the Mississippi River with a gaggle of other paddling enthusiasts and my two boys. Fun! The 22 miles might be a bit of an effort, but we've gone farther in a day paddling against wind in the BWCAW, so this paddling with the current business should be a piece of cake in comparison. Even if it isn't we get to spend a night in the Fort camping out, how cool is that?
